Panchang means five limbs: tithi (lunar day), vara (weekday), nakshatra (the Moon's lunar mansion), yoga (from the combined longitude of Sun and Moon) and karana (half a tithi). Each is read at local sunrise for the day.
It is Pausha, Shukla paksha, in Vikram Samvat 2085 (Shaka 1950). North Indian calendars count months purnimanta (ending on the full moon); much of South and West India counts amanta (ending on the new moon), so the month name can differ in the dark fortnight.
